The 2026 WRC Rally Italia Sardegna concluded in dramatic fashion, serving as the unexpected season finale of the FIA World Rally Championship following the cancellation of Rally Saudi Arabia.
The event took place from 1–4 October 2026 around the historic city of Alghero, featuring 17 abrasive gravel stages covering over 307 competitive kilometres.
The rally hosted a high-stakes, three-way title decider between Elfyn Evans, Oliver Solberg, and Sami Pajari.
Oliver Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson delivered a masterful performance in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 to win the rally. Solberg dominated Saturday to take the lead and pushed hard until the end, keeping his title hopes alive until the very last stage.
Despite finishing 5th overall after suffering a costly front-right puncture on Sunday morning, Elfyn Evans (alongside co-driver Scott Martin) secured his first-time FIA World Rally Championship title. The championship came down to a heart-stopping finale when Solberg crashed out of bonus-point contention just two corners from the finish line of the Power Stage, sealing the crown for Evans.
